    FOUNDATION UPDATE

    1/31/09

A special thanks to all of you who have so generously donated to the David Andrew "Pooh" Maddan Foundation. Over $19,000 has already been raised to help in the fight against cancer. We are anticipating that we will receive our tax-exempt status, which will be retroactive to 2008, in a few months. Please contact the Foundation? treasurer, Matt Wheeler CPA, at matt at poohstrong.com for further information.

We are pleased to announce we are finalizing the design of the official logo for the Foundation which is being created and donated by James Aproberts, a Bay area graphic designer. We will then be able to produce letterhead for stationary and other printed materials including a brochure describing the Foundation and its mission.

In the coming months, information will be posted on this website about various fundraisers being sponsored by friends of the Foundation who are enthusiastically helping keep Pooh? dream alive. If you have an idea for a fundraiser, or are looking for a way to contribute to the Foundation, please contact Kathleen Maddan Blackmore, at akmaddan at yahoo.com

Again, with your help, the David Andrew "Pooh" Maddan foundation will make a difference in the fight against cancer. Have a great new year!

    12/14/08

Great news! The David Andrew "Pooh" Maddan Foundation has now officially been established. We are all extremely excited that the first steps towards establishing an organization to help young adults in their fight against cancer has now been realized. The foundation is now officially accepting donations to help make David's dream a reality. Donations may be sent to:

The David Andrew "Pooh" Maddan Foundation
    PO Box 475577
    San Francisco, CA 94147

The foundation is now in the process of applying for tax-exempt status as an official 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Unfortunately, this process can take anywhere from six to nine months to complete. The good news is that receipt of tax-exempt status by the IRS is retroactive to the date of application. In English, this means the David Andrew "Pooh" Maddan Foundation will be an official tax-exempt charity as of 2008 and any donations given before the end of the year will be tax-deductible in 2008. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the foundation's treasurer Matt Wheeler CPA at matt@poohstrong.com.

Thank you to EVERYONE for your generosity over the past few months. This foundation is something that David had wanted to establish and we all feel honored that so many people out there are helping to make David's dream a reality. Stay tuned to the website for more information regarding the foundation as well as a future mailing list regarding foundation news and events. Happy Holidays to all and a Happy New Year as well!

    11/19/08

The organizational meeting for the non-profit foundation was held November 12th. We are making every effort to expedite the process of establishing the foundation. We anticipate that we will have more details soon to share with you about how you may participate in this effort to honor David and assist other young cancer patients.

If any of you want to share any photos of Pooh on the website, please submit them with your name and when they were taken.

Please keep checking the website for information regarding upcoming foundation events.

    Our love,

    The Maddan Family and Tessa

We wish to thank the Crow Canyon Family for the many acts of love and kindness that you extended to David and to our family. Thank you for taking David into your hearts and letting him spend the last two summers with your wonderful children. The flowers at the funeral were beautiful, and we so appreciated the "Pooh" tee-shirts and bracelets. Your incredible fundraiser for David inspired him two days before being diagnosed with leukemia to call us and say that he wanted to start a foundation to assist the families of children and young people undergoing cancer treatment.

Next week we will meet in San Francisco to expedite the process of establishing such a foundation in David's name to honor his request to help others and, ultimately, to help eradicate cancer. We will post the information about donating to the foundation as soon as possible for all of you who want David's legacy to continue.

    Our love,

    The Maddan Family and Tessa

    10/31/08

The Maddan family and Tessa wish to express our gratitude to all of you for your kindness, love and support for us during this difficult time. We will try to thank each of you individually. If we miss you, please note that we appreciate all you have done for our family. We cannot thank the Colich family enough for hosting the Celebration of Life for David. We especially want to thank those of you who came from long distances at great personal expense for the Celebration. David would have loved to have been there. Let? try to start smiling again, because that is what David would want us to do.

Our love, the Maddan family and Tessa

The Mass on Tuesday at 10:00 AM will be held at:

    St Agnes Catholic Church
    1025 Masonic Avenue
    San Francisco, CA

The Celebration of Life on Wednesday at 5:00 PM will be held on Ocean Beach across from the Beach Chalet in San Francisco. Immediately following the ceremony you are invited to continue celebrating Dave's life at a reception to be held at:

    10/25/08

Once again, thank you everyone for the love and support over the past week.

David passed away peacefully early this morning surrounded by family, friends, and music. David lived a great life, and he grew to be a great man that taught all of us many things. Sometimes the brightest stars burn out the quickest, and I think that was the case with our friend "Pooh". I'm going to miss you buddy.

Information regarding services will be posted sometime early this week. Please continue to post your stories, prayers, and thanks to the Maddan family on the website.

    10/22/08

Jack, Anna, Jack III, Mary Bridget, Baby Erin, Bryan, Kathleen, Ryan, Baby Grace and Tessa are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support coming from all of you and want to express our gratitude to you all. Please keep sending your prayers, stories, and positive thoughts.

At this time, Dave's condition is unstable. We will update you with more information as soon as we can. In the meantime non-family visitors will not be permitted to see Dave.

Many people have written or called asking how they can help or if they can make a donation to a fund for Dave. While we are extremely grateful, we have decided we would rather establish a non-profit foundation in Pooh's honor to somehow benefit cancer patients and their families. This foundation will serve as David's lasting legacy. However, the details and legalities of the foundation are still being worked out. As soon as the foundation is set up, information will be posted on this site so all who wish to participate may.

Thank you all again for your stories, prayers, support and love.

    The Maddan Family

Ps- This always includes Tessa (of course)
